As a Cornerstone project for the Ottawa Little Theatre this work celebrates the many volunteers that dedicate their time to making an imaginary world come to life. Small hand props are used again and again as each new play is developed and there is a magical aspects inherent in these objects, as they transform meaning and interpretation with each new theatrical event.This reinvention is resonate with new meaning as each time a performer and audience come together. ShapeShifter mirrors the transformative power of props to create an ever changing world on the stage and describes typical props that are available in most theatrical settings; a teapot, musical instruments, lights these simple objects speak to the specific, the local while also connecting to the larger world of theatre, in all its transformative abilities.
