The mythological leprechaun figure is juxtaposed with historical 17th century maps, computer hardware and charred felled logs as a means to reinvent a modern day tale. As a symbol this form is often characterized as a benign element that decorates a garden narrative, the historical significance lost among the flowering landscape. The intent was to combine a collection of elements that broadens the context for interpretation and reinstates to a degree the changing symbol. This assemblage of objects forms a myriad of connections between things, time and place. Olfactory sensory elements such as the charred and blackened log on steel rollers, reminiscent of logging history, brings a sense of real experience to the installation.
